About

Attorney

The quote by Gloria Steinem, "Helping begins with listening," is something that resonates with Attorney Corey Hemphill. Helping people is why she chose to become a lawyer. Most people need an attorney when they are facing a difficult time, and Corey and her family found themselves in precisely that situation. In 2018, Corey's grandmother was the victim of medical malpractice when a hospital triple dosed her medications, poisoning her for days. It became clear that they needed legal assistance to find justice, and her family turned to Robert Peirce & Associates to advocate on her behalf. Corey's grandmother still suffers from the devastating long-term effects caused by the hospital's medical negligence, but the skilled personal injury attorneys at Robert Peirce & Associates were able to secure the justice she deserved.

Corey attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she had the opportunity to work at the office of United States Senator Robert P. Casey Jr. There, she gained valuable experience advocating for Pennsylvania residents experiencing issues related to their casework at federal agencies and relaying messages directly to Senator Casey. Corey also immersed herself in social issues by working for the University of Pittsburgh Office of Diversity and Inclusion, where she designed and managed social media content and organized campus events. In 2020, she graduated with honors (dean's list and magna cum laude) with a B.A. in Political Science and History.

Corey was awarded the Blue and Gold Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship for the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she began her journey to become a lawyer. During law school, she gained experience as a law clerk at Stoner Law Offices in Pittsburgh, where she prepared complaints, briefs, motions, and client materials for hearings, trials, and depositions. Additionally, Corey worked as a law clerk at the University of Pittsburgh Office of Sponsored Programs, drafting contract amendments and non-disclosure agreements.

Corey graduated in May 2023 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law with honors, receiving the Law School Leadership Award, Pro Bono Service Leadership Award, and Civil Procedure TA position. She began her legal career as a workers’ compensation associate attorney.

Corey joined the Robert Peirce & Associates law firm in April 2024 as an associate attorney, specializing in nursing home, personal injury, and medical malpractice cases. In addition, she assists domestic violence victims in Allegheny County by helping them receive protection from abuse (PFA) orders. To work for the firm that originally inspired her through their legal work on behalf of her grandmother was truly one of life's full-circle moments.

Corey grew up as a University of Pittsburgh sports fan and now enjoys attending Pitt Football games in the fall as an alumna. She is also an avid fan of the Penguins and Pirates. Corey participates in weekly trivia tournaments with friends and enjoys painting, baking, cooking, and spending time with her dog, Flower.
