The legal team at Robert Peirce & Associates, P.C. is pleased to announce that Attorney D. Aaron Rihn has been appointed as co-liaison counsel for the Philips CPAP recall class action lawsuit, sharing liaison oversight of the entire multidistrict litigation (MDL).
Attorney Rihn’s appointment is a great privilege, as competition for the position was fierce. He is honored to assist other personal injury plaintiff’s attorneys in the fight to win justice and compensation for those harmed by Philips Respironics CPAP machines.
About the Case
Upon uncovering health risks, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled several DreamStation sleep apnea machines manufactured by Philips Respironics. In particular, it found that the polyester-based polyurethane (PE-PUR) sound abatement foam would often break down, allowing chemicals and black debris to be swallowed and/or inhaled.
The defective Philips CPAP machines have been linked to:
- Trouble breathing
- Asthma attacks, new or worsening
- Lung damage, irritation, and inflammation
- Respiratory failure
- Kidney and liver disease
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Pneumonia
- Cancers of the kidney, liver, and colon
Philips must be held accountable for putting a defective medical device out to market. The PE-PUR sound abatement foam was meant to reduce sound and vibration for the user, not put them at risk of suffering a variety of injuries.
